Rotunda Stage: Free
Bringing the extraordinary imaginations of kids into the classroom and onto the stage.
UW-Madison School of Education and Theatre LILA present The Whoopensocker Show! Celebrating the writing and creativity of third grade and fourth grade students from MMSD elementary schools. In a six-week theatre residency Whoopensocker teaching artists engaged Madison students at Sandburg, Thoreau, Lincoln and Emerson Elementary schools to explore exercises in creativity, expression, writing and collaboration. The children’s stories and poems were then put in the hands of LILA actors, directors and musicians to create a full-length performance at each school.
Now everyone gets to experience the culmination of the creativity of these 3rd & 4th graders as we bring their stories to the stage at the Overture Center. We hope you and your families can join us for this free community performance!
Presented in partnership with the UW School of Education with support from TASC, Dane Arts, American Girl Fund for Children, Connect Wisconsin, Strang, Pattesson, Renning, Lewis and Lacy.
