Local Legends Pledge to Match All Gifts through June 15
From now until June 15, every gift you make will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $200,000, thanks to two Local Legends.
What are you passionate about?
Maybe you sing along to a Broadway show, or dance in the aisles at a rock concert. You might get lost in the intimate details of a painting. And you probably think everyone should have the chance to indulge in the arts the way you do.
You can give people that chance – and right now, you can have double the impact.
From now until June 15, every gift you make will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $200,000, thanks to two Local Legends.
Ron and Deborah Krantz will offer $100,000 in support of Overture Center’s community programs, which offer artistic and educational experiences at no or very low cost to more than 200,000 people each year.
A donor who wishes to remain anonymous will offer another $100,000 in honor of Overture CEO Ted DeDee and his wife Gail, who passed away in December.
“Ted and Gail attended virtually every resident company and local artist’s performance at Overture Center,” the anonymous donor said. “They bought their own tickets, and they always came together. They exemplified the joy of experiencing the arts with someone you love, and they made it crystal clear that Overture is committed to helping local artists succeed. I’m certain Ted will continue to support local artists, and will steer Overture to even deeper involvement with and commitment to the community. It won’t be the same without his beloved Gail in the seat next to him, but I hope we can all honor her memory by continuing to support the arts in our community.”
Only monetary donations by individuals and companies will be counted toward the match. Sponsorships and in-kind donations will not.
Remember, ticket sales do not support Overture’s community programs. They all depend on contributions from people like you! Please consider giving today. Any gift will allow Overture Center for the Arts to continue connecting the Madison community with the arts for which we all share a passion.
“Both of these gifts are extraordinarily humbling,” DeDee said. “I’m amazed any time a member of this community comes forward with support of this magnitude. I’ve run arts centers across the country, and I know of no community that supports its local arts like Madison does. Our staff and volunteers put countless hours and endless creativity into our community programs, and it means a great deal to all of us that Ron and Deborah recognize the value of those programs to this degree. And I can’t express how deeply I appreciate the gift made in honor of Gail and me. It’s been hard having her seat in the theater empty next to me, but the outpouring of support since her passing, and this recognition of her commitment to the arts, has been truly touching. I am confident that the community will respond and make the most of this extraordinary challenge.”
