Calling All Artists!
Now accepting applications for 2016/17 gallery season
If you’ve ever come through our Rotunda Lobby and toward Capitol Theater, you know we have three visual art galleries that almost always have some really interesting, engaging and sometimes provocative work hanging on the walls.
We have shows scheduled through the summer, but we’ll need new work to show starting this fall. We put up 12 shows every year — four exhibitions, three months each, in each of the three galleries. If you have something interesting to show us, your work might be among them!
If you’ve never applied or exhibited here before, please plan on attending an informational meeting at 6 pm on Tuesday, February 4, in Wisconsin Studio on the third floor of Overture Center. That meeting will last about an hour. Also, take the time to get a good look at the spaces.
Applications are juried by members of the local arts community, not Overture Center staff, and the decisions and season schedule will be announced in May.
Individual applicants who are accepted will be curated into a two-person or group exhibition. Group applicants and curatorial proposals must include artwork by a minimum of two artists, the majority of whom reside in Dane County. Group and curated shows must also be organized with a strong conceptual and visual theme. Preference is given to artists who have not shown work in the Overture Galleries in the past two years. Artists who have recently exhibited in a large group show at Overture Galleries may re-apply as an individual or as a member of another group.
