Overture Center announces Broadway will return to Madison with a rescheduled 2021/22 Broadway season

In a special live virtual announcement this evening with Broadway at Overture season subscribers, Overture Center revealed its 2021/22 Broadway at Overture lineup of shows. Most 2020/21 shows were rescheduled to the 2021/22 season, and HAIRSPRAY was added. Along with these changes, we are thrilled to announce HAMILTON will return to Madison as the final show of the 2021/22 season. Unfortunately, Disney’s THE LION KING and OKLAHOMA! were not able to be rescheduled, and we hope to present them in a future season.

The 2021/22 Broadway at Overture season includes the following shows:

· FIDDLER ON THE ROOF, Nov. 16-21, 2021
· MEAN GIRLS, Jan. 11-16, 2022 – Madison premiere!
· HAIRSPRAY, Feb. 22-27, 2022
· THE PROM, March 22-27, 2022 – Madison premiere!
· DEAR EVAN HANSEN, May 10-15, 2022 – Madison premiere!
· AIN’T TOO PROUD – THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE TEMPTATIONS, June 14-19, 2022 – Madison premiere!
· HAMILTON, Aug. 9-21, 2022

In addition to the 2021/22 Broadway at Overture season, COME FROM AWAY, rescheduled from the 2019/20 season, will be presented from Sept. 28 – Oct. 3, 2021.

“We have an incredible lineup and much to look forward to when we’re able to bring tours back to Overture later this year,” said Tim Sauers, VP of programming and community engagement.

Current 2020/21 subscribers will be contacted via email with more information regarding the rescheduled 2021/22 season.

New subscriptions for the six or seven-show package will go on sale this spring. To be added to the waitlist to become a Broadway at Overture subscriber, please click here or on the button below. Those on the waitlist will be among the first notified when subscriptions go on sale.

The only way to guarantee seats for Broadway shows and avoid potential price increases closer to the show is to subscribe to the Broadway at Overture package. Single tickets for individual shows for Broadway at Overture performances—including HAMILTON—will go on sale to the public throughout the season, subject to availability.

Sauers and his programming team are working to reschedule all remaining 2020/21 Overture Presents shows as well, including favorites “Carol Burnett: An Evening of Laughter and Reflection,” “Stomp,” “Trinity Irish Dance Company,” “Alton Brown Live: Beyond the Eats” and “Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis.” Overture Presents shows will be announced in the spring.

The Broadway at Overture series is presented by American Family Insurance. MEAN GIRLS is sponsored by SupraNet Communications, Inc. and AIN’T TOO PROUD – THE LIFE AND TIMES OF THE TEMPTATIONS is sponsored by Findorff. Overture is grateful for this community support that helps make these experiences possible.

COVID-19 related health protocols may be in effect at the time of performance. The health and safety of our guests, artists and employees will always lead the decisions we make as they relate to mitigating the spread of COVID-19 and other safety and security measures. Overture will implement procedures, requirements and systems that comply with relevant government regulations.

While there may be additional changes to the Broadway season, season ticket holders will be updated through email notifications and our website. If we need to cancel any performance, the value of purchased tickets is safe. Ticket holders will have the option of a credit, refund or the ability to donate the value of their tickets to Overture Center.
