March is Women's History Month! This yearly celebration recognizes the impactful contributions of women throughout history and in modern society. This month offers a chance to reflect on the contributions of women in all fields, from business and arts to sports and activism. Explore local organizations supporting women 

There are lots of great local resources for women in business, the arts or those who just want to connect with other women in the area. Here are just a few to check out.

Doyenne Group – Doyenne is building and expanding a virtual network of communities where early-stage, scalable, women and historically marginalized gender/s entrepreneurs come to access professional development, connections and other opportunities with each other and Doyenne’s partners.

LunART - The mission of LunART is to support, inspire, promote and celebrate all women in the arts through public performances, exhibitions, workshops and interdisciplinary collaboration, thus enriching our community and creating a welcoming space for learning and experimentation.

Wisconsin Women’s Network - The Wisconsin Women’s Network’s goal is to expand conversations and actions to encompass the concerns and challenges faced by women in Wisconsin. They examine intersections within the fight for equality through communication, education, advocacy and connections, combating racial, socio-economic and gender-identity inequalities, to name a few.

Progress Center for Black Women – The Progress Center for Black Women offers coworking and creates powerful communities of Black women who lead, do and own. They support women in realizing their personal and career goals by providing regular workshops around professional development, entrepreneurship, wellness and financial health.

Support women’s sports

Madison is home to outstanding female athletes and organizations that promote women in sports. Show your support by following and attending events.

LOVB Madison: LOVB, which stands for League One Volleyball, launched six teams across the country in January 2025, including LOVB Madison. The team will play their last home game of the season against LOVB Omaha on Thursday, March 13 at Alliant Energy Center.

UW-Madison Women’s Athletics: Hockey and basketball season may be coming to a close, but spring sports are ramping up with golf, tennis and softball home games all on the schedule for March.

Madison Night Mares: The professional softball team had their first season last summer and will start their second season this June. Ticket packages are on sale now.

Celebrate International Women’s Day at International Festival

This year Overture’s annual International Festival falls on International Women’s Day on Saturday, March 8. What better way to spend the day than by celebrating the rich cultural heritage within our community. Enjoy nearly 30 free performance featuring female performers and shop from vendors and artists representing cultures from around the world.
