Previously of the Grammy-winning Turtle Island Quartet, also nominated for a Grammy for, “Best Instrumental Composition” in 2018, Jeremy Kittel has been a composer-arranger-collaborator for such diverse artists as My Morning Jacket, Yo-Yo Ma & the Silk Road Ensemble, and Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn. He blazes through a Bach violin partita as easily as a Scottish reel, bringing the same intense focus and precision to both. For the last few years the Michigan native, now based in Brooklyn, has been diligently building his own repertoire of music for a wholly original new group.
This Kittel and Co. show features mandolin phenom Josh Pinkham (named “the future of the mandolin” by Mandolin Magazine) and guitarist Quinn Bachand (who’s toured with fiddling icons Ashley MacIsaac and Natalie MacMaster).
The North Code, Overture’s 2018 Rising Stars Grand Prize Winners, will perform as the opening act!
The North Code is an up-and-coming Madison five-piece band consisting of Josh Pankratz, Adam Prinsen, Craig Hoffmann, Ben Strohbeen, and Rin Ribble. They are set to release their first full-length album at High Noon Saloon on May 16 of this year. The Isthmus has described their sound as “indie-folk music with a twinge of Americana,” and others have compared them to bands like The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, and The Head and The Heart. No matter which genre you put them in, their original songwriting filled with driving guitar rhythms, compelling instrumentation, and tight harmonies is sure to please any crowd.
