This acclaimed 1928 film was star Lillian Gish’s last of the silent era. In it she plays Letty, a fragile woman who travels to Texas to live with unpleasant relatives, contending with a bad marriage, murder and persistent desert wind. As tensions grow, and undesirable admirers become insistent, Letty psychologically breaks down, culminating in tragedy.
