Presented by Dance Wisconsin, “Resilience” is a contemporary ballet concert that celebrates 45 years of educating youth in the art of dance and providing professional level productions. The diverse set of choreographers wonderfully highlight the artistry and moxie of the company through a triple-themed concert of original ballet pieces.
Dance Wisconsin is a nonprofit pre-professional dance company composed of dancers ages 11 through adult. The company has been a part of Regional Dance America’s (RDA) MidStates Region for more than 30 years and is Wisconsin’s only Honor Company within RDA. Led by Artistic Director JoJean Retrum, the company prides itself in educating high-level athletes in the art of dance as well as creating a nurturing environment for tomorrow’s leaders. Dance Wisconsin alums have performed with American Ballet Theatre, Broadway and regional dance companies and have worked in the theater industry as costumers and makeup artists. Graduates are also scientists, physicians, educators, writers and business executives.
This project is supported by Dane County Arts with additional funds from the Endres Mfg. Company Foundation, The Evjue Foundation, Inc., charitable arm of The Capital Times, the W. Jerome Frautschi Foundation, and the Pleasant T. Rowland Foundation.
