From New York to Paris, from ragtime to jazz: “The Hello Girls” chronicles the story of America’s first women soldiers in this new musical inspired by history. These intrepid heroines served as bilingual telephone operators on the front lines, helping turn the tide of World War I. They then returned home to fight a decades-long battle for equality and recognition, paving the way for future generations of women in the armed forces.

Pre-show lectures
Pre-show lectures on Thursdays at 6:30 pm and Sundays at 1 pm will bring hidden history to light. Learn how women working for telephone companies in the United States were actively recruited to serve as communications experts for the Allied Forces in World War I.

This is a facility rental event presented by an independent organization separate from Overture Center for the Arts.

“Thrilling, smart, human and sardonically feminist... there is a palpable sense of filling in an important blank: showing an adventurous female presence in the war story we thought we knew.”
