Charting its own path, “Rossini to Rococo” takes us on a musical journey of contrasting styles and eras. Rossini’s Overture to “Le Cenerentola” opens with operatic flair, followed by Casarrubios’ newly commissioned “Concerto for Cello No. 2” performed by internationally acclaimed cellist Amit Peled. Grace Williams’ “Sea Sketches” offers a shift in atmosphere to the contemporary before Tchaikovsky’s “Rococo Variations” bring the stage alive with world premiere choreography by Madison Ballet alongside Peled on cello. Graceful yet dynamic, this program moves seamlessly between stage, sea and soaring melody.

Meet the Artists
Cello
Amit Peled
Internationally acclaimed cellist, conductor, and pedagogue Amit Peled is recognized as one of today’s most exciting and virtuosic performers. He has performed on many of the world’s most prestigious concert halls, including Carnegie Hall and Alice Tully Hall in New York, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., Salle Gaveau in Paris, Wigmore Hall in London, Seoul Arts Center in Korea, and the Konzerthaus in Berlin, Germany.
Madison Ballet
The mission of Madison Ballet is to cultivate appreciation for and access to the art form of ballet. We inspire and train the next generation of dancers, artists, and professionals through performances by the Madison Ballet Company, education through the School of Madison Ballet, and outreach in partnership with local community organizations. The vision of Madison Ballet is to shape ballet into an inclusive art form, which represents the world we live in through diversity and inclusion both on and off stage. We commission works by female-identifying artists and artists of color, serving as one way to address systemic problems in dance that have led to a lack of diversity on stages locally and nationally.
